6/26/14 KNBA News - A flood watch is in effect for the upper Susitna valley
A low pressure system bringing widespread steady rain has prompted a flood watch for the Upper Susitna valley and Talkeetna Mountains.
As KTOO's Casey Kelley reports, a state report highlights "severe shortcomings" in the state's housing stock when it comes to things like cost, energy efficiency and overcrowding.
Conservation groups are asking for a threatened or endangered listing for the yellow cedar due to climate change. For centuries, the Native people of Southeast Alaska have used the wood for everything from totem poles and paddles, to the backing for ceremonial blankets.
