Today’s guests on Morning Line featured JJ Harrier and Shelby Wilson from Indentity, a statewide LGBT organization that aims to advance Alaska’s LGBT community through advocacy, education and connectivity. They spoke with KNBA Producer Frank Chythlook about Anchorage Pride Week.

Anchorage Pride Week is a event filled week, all leading towards the equality parade and festival. The Identity pride committee (event organizers) decided to have an event for each day of the week, resulting from local organizations coming forward with wanting to host an event. "It's amazing that the community responded as well and as positive as they did for our pride fest," said Harrier. This year centers around The Next Generation: more than a rainbow.

Anchorage's 2018 Pride Week officially began on June 9th, with a kick-off event at the Out North Gallery. The stage event feaured stories about relationships between people of different generations within the LGBT Community. June 10th's event featured a barbeque at the Raven, which was met with magnificent weather. "Its been a while since we've had that many people who showed up to the barbeque, so it was a packed house yetersday," said Wilson.

Anchorage Pride Week takes nine months of planning, with 20 members serving on the comittee and hundreds of volunteers who help cordinate and faciliate the week's events. "The thing thats happened with Pride Fest in Anchorage is, its grown, exponentially, each year." Tonight at the Bear Tooth Theatre Pub and Grill, Pride week will continue with a film festival featuirng LGBT movies Philidelphia and To a More Perfect Union. The weeks events are as followed:
