Gathering Place at the State Fair & Anchorage Museum Science Passports

Today on Our Community, the Morning Line crew highlighted events at the Anchorage Museum and the Gathering Place at the Alaska State Fair.  

Erin Marberger, Curator of Science and Innovation spoke about some fun experiences families can participate in at the Anchorage Museum, as well as a Science Passport as a fun way to track what you've seen there.

Meanwhile, in Palmer, perfomers like AKU-MATU are proving that, while her performance can be high art at a place like the Anchorage Museum, it can also work in a less formal setting like the Alaska State Fair.

Gathering Place organizer and stage director Amy Sparck says the importance of venues like the Fair is that it showcases the fact that Alaska Native cultures are growing, changing and evolving,

Sept 1, 1pm & 5pm AKU MATU, Inupiaq rapper and multimedia artist

Sept 2, 1pm and 4:30pm Lepquinm Gumilgit Gagoadim Dancers sharing Tsimshian Dance and Stories

Sept 1 & 2, 7pm, Pamyua Alaska's Own Inuit Soul Music Experience

Sept 4, Noon, Eskimo Ninja Warrior Nick Hansen & Miss Alaska Alyssa London

Sept 4, 2pm, Marjorie Tahbone, world record fish-splitter, tattoo artist and culture bearer/speaker
