As Heard on Morning Line: Alaska Community Action on Toxics

Alaska Community Action on Toxics

Alaska Community Action on Toxics Executive Director Pam Miller says an event coming up Thursday the 29thcalled Resisterhood: Stand Up for Our Health is a great way to learn about the connection between breast cancer and environmental factors.

Guest lecturer at the event is Dr Megan Schwarzman, Associate Director of Health and Environment Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry.   https://www.cleanproduction.org/about/profile/megan-schwarzman

The event is hosted in collaboration with Alaska Nurses, the Alaska Run for Women, Planned Parenthood and the YWCA Alaska.

Pollution is not the only factor to be concerned with, Miller says, as potential harmful chemicals can be found in consumer products in homes, and workplaces, particularly with a political climate favoring less protections for consumers.

Miller says collective action is the way her organization approaches the issue, from a policy standpoint.
