ANCHORAGE POLICE: Anchorage Police had its sixth officer involved shooting this year after a suspect fired shots from a Walmart parking lot in Muldoon.

Leslie R. Washington, age 41, worked for a Huslia-based company called Scorched Earth Services. The wildland firefighter died Tuesday after a medical emergency.

NOORVIK FIREFIGHTER. A wildland firefighter from the Northwest Arctic community of Noorvik died Tuesday in Northern Minnesota due to a medical emergency.

JUNEAU FLOODING. The Juneau glacial outburst flood crested yesterday. Water made its way into some homes, but barriers and pumps saved many from major damage. And more than chickenwire, gravel and sand bags, it was community teamwork and neighbors helping neighbor that made the difference.

Richard Grayson does not live in Alaska, but is a perennial candidate for office in Alaska. Arizona station KOLD interviewed him in 2025 when he ran in a special primary there for U.S. House.

POP UP CAMPAIGN. Pop-up political groups have also spent more than $2 million to support fringe candidates and political unknowns, some who’ve never lived in the state. Alaska Public Media’s Liz Ruskin explains what’s going on here, and it’s far from straight forward.
