Pata to step down as executive director of National Congress of American Indians

The executive director of the National Congress of American Indians announced Tuesday evening that she would resign, Indian Country Today reports.

Jacqueline Pata served as NCAI executive director for about 18 years, before being placed on administrative leave in October following allegations regardingher handling of sexual and workplace harassment reports.

Indian Country Today reports that Pata will continue to run the organization until the next executive director can take office.

Pata serves on the executive council for Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, as well as on the board of directors for Sealaska Corporation, a for-profit Alaska Native corporation.
