Evan Anderson, Civin Engagement Coordinator, The Alaska Center

Today’s guest on Morning Line featured Evan Anderson, the Civic Engagement Coordinator for the Alaska Center.

The Alaska Center works across the state to promote clean energy and strengthening Alaska's voice. They’re focused on the political process and working within the political field to get Alaskans involved in electing better candidates. It is a statewide organization with staff located in Homer, Fairbanks, and the Mat-su.

On Friday, May 9, the Alaska Center will be having their annual auction and celebration. The event serves as one of the primary ways the organization raises funds to continue their work. This year, the Center focused on implementing community solar projects, advancing clean energy policy and increasing salmon habitat protections. The event begins at 5:30 P.M. until 9:30 P.M. at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown.

Tickets: $50 per person

Young Professional Tickets: $35 (available for 26 and younger)

Childcare available $5 per child (age 4+)

On Saturday, May 10, the Alaska Center will be having a community conversation featuring Reverend Lennox Yearwood Jr. The event, Our Home, Our Future, will focus on issues effecting  the people of Anchorage. The event runs from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Boys and Girls in Mountain View.

Free Event.

The Alaska Center hopes to get and stayed engaged with the Mountain View community. Six months ago, they held a Energy Efficiency Family night which featured topics including keeping a utility bill affordable throughout the year. The outreach event was in partnership with the NAACP of Anchorage.  For more information, visit https://akcenter.org/auction/
