As heard on Morning Line today:
The Iditarod finisher’s list keeps growing today, with more than 30 teams crossing the line…
Iditarod isn’t the only dog race occurring in Alaska today, Open North American Championship (ONAC) is just getting started in Fairbanks at the Musher’s Hall at 8am today.
It’s a 72-year-old dog racing tradition and last three days.
Over the years the annual race draws mushers from around the world, including Korea, Germany, and Canada.
Racers from Alaskan mushing families from across the generations like Luke Sampson, Eddie Dayton, John Erhart, Marvin Kokrine are among the roster, as well as this year's Fur Rondy Open World Sled Dog Race Champ, Roxy Wright.
This is Wright's second year back in the Open North American Championship after a break that lasted about two decades.
More information about the ONAC can be found at the Alaska Dog Musher's Association website, http://sleddog.org/
