Salmon jump and thrash in the water as researcher skiff passes by.

Ninilchik’s annual Salmonfest is a three-day music festival that advocates for protection of salmon, but also highlights something more. The Blind Slough hydroelectric plant and Crystal Lake salmon hatchery near Petersburg are working out how to keep the water they share safe for fish.
