Live In-Studio: Tim Easton

Alaskan's love a traveling musician. The artist who knows how to fit right in as they step into small bars, local campfires or that extra seat for a  road-trip North and South.  Tim Easton has been coming to Alaska for over 15 years and he always meets Alaskan's the organic way, with his feet on the ground. Tim wandered into the KNBA Studio's on Thursday August 11, 2016 to chat with Loren Dixon about travels, Salmonfes and his new Album "American Fork"

ABOUT TIM EASTON
American songwriter Tim Easton was raised in Akron, Ohio.
Traveling early and often, he learned the ways of the road and rails and spent 7 years as a bonafide troubadour, making his way around Europe, playing the streets and clubs, and living in Paris, London, Prague, Dublin, or wherever he laid his hat.
It was this period of time when he developed his songwriting style-folk based storytelling and personal traveling tales, often peppered with bold confessions or "tell it as is" reality.
Rolling Stone Magazine praised him as "having a novelist's sense of humanity.” Returning to his roots in North America, New West Records released five solo albums starting with 2001's "The Truth About Us," which featured Jay Bennet, Ken Coomer, and John Stirrat (of WILCO) as the backing band.
Invitations from Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, and Steve Earle as a support act followed.
Many tours later, after settling in Nashville, Easton recorded an album for THIRTY TIGERS (Not Cool, 2013), which accented the stripped down Memphis & Sun Studios sound of the Tennessee Three. His newest record American Fork is a grand departure from his previous efforts, featuring a fully fleshed-out backing band, musicians and elaborate song arrangements, will be released on LAST CHANCE RECORDS (North America) and AT THE HELM RECORDS (UK) in September, 2016. Worldwide touring will follow.
Recently, Easton reached the milestone of having 100 published original songs which he celebrated by releasing a hundred solo performance videos on a hundred consecutive days, mostly from his home in Nashville, Tennessee, on his personal YouTube channel.
Loren’s been on the Radio in Anchorage for 30 years. Since the mid 80's he's worked with Anchorage radio stations including KWHL, KFQD, KKLV, and KMXS. His passion for Music and the 'Triple-A' radio format began in the early 90’s which led to him to help establish the format for KNBA when the station signed on in 1996. When not on the radio hosting a music show and interviewing local and national music acts, he may be on a long road trip or you’ll find him hanging out at his log cabin in the quiet, but bear filled hillside valley of his hometown Anchorage.
