Freezing rain is expected to impact the lower elevations of the Anchorage area this afternoon. Temperatures around the Anchorage area are hovering just below freezing late this morning. Light rain is expected to spread over the area falling on surfaces that are below freezing creating slick conditions through the evening hours.
* Ice accumulation...up to one tenth of an inch.
* Timing...light rain will begin to overspread the area by early afternoon. By this evening...colder air will erode the warm layer and change precipitation over to snow which will continue the slick conditions.
* Impacts...travel may be difficult. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
