Anchorage, AK – Residents of Galena are returning home to wrestle with insulation, dry wall, appliances, and furniture damaged by floodwaters contaminated with fuel and sewage, ot to homes completely destroyed.
Wildfires number 103 in Alaska, sparked by lightning and feeding on dry tundra, brush, and forests.
Smoke from wildfires is making for hazy air in Anchorage, but air quality is still moderate.
The U.S. Army will increase numbers in Fairbanks by 552, and reduce Anchorage's by 894.
President Obama has issued an Executive Order creating The White House Council on Native American Affairs, and affirming the nation's government-to-government relationship with federally recognized tribes.
