Anchorage, AK – Developers of the Bristol Bay area Pebble Mine project hope to begin the permitting process this year.
As critics have been saying for years, the Pollock fishery in the North Pacific is having a disproportionate effect on salmon that originate in western coastal Alaska.
Unemployment is down to 6.2 percent, with the lowest rate in the western Aleutians, and the highest north of Bethel.
