Anchorage, AK – The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of tribes that complained the federal government refused to pay the full cost of contracts with them. The decision is likely to mean Alaska tribes will receive millions of dollars in overdue payments. A bill transferring land from the Tongass National Forest to the Native corporation Sealaska has passed the House, but faces uncertainty in the U.S. Senate.
