Anchorage, AK – A four-day Venetie environmental and natural resource conference covers risks of mining in Chandelar waterway, among other issues. Sea ice as thick as 5 feet and a late spring thaw may delay the Togiak Herring roe fishery. A waste heat power generator called "The Green Machine," which converts low-grade heat and uses it to drive a turbine and generate electricity, may help with high energy costs in rural Alaska.
