Anchorage, AK – Backers of an initiative to re-establish the Alaska Coastal Management Program are pushing to gather 26,000 signatures by Jan. 17. The Russian tanker Renda passes U.S. Coast Guard inspection and heads to Nome for emergency fuel delivery. Northwest Alaska aviation icon Marge Baker, mother of Iditarod champion John Baker, passes on at age 79. The National Weather Service says the forecast is for colder than usual temperatures.
