Anchorage, AK – The Alaska Energy Authority files pre-application papers for a massive hydroelectric project on the Susitna River. Former Gov. Bill Sheffield retires from the Port of Anchorage amid criticism of cost overruns on port expansion construction. A small eruption of the Cleveland volcano poses no danger for air travel. Even though application forms were sent out early, Permanent Fund Dividend applications are due after January first, as in previous years.
