Anchorage, AK – As of October, Alaska's jobless rate has been lower than the nation's for three years. Hundreds of Kenai Peninsula homes are still without power. Gov. Sean Parnell says cutting taxes on oil companies is his top economic priority as it may cost the state while oil prices are high, but will raise revenues in the long term from increased oil production. Critics call it a giveaway to oil companies with no guarantee they will reinvest the savings in Alaska.
