Anchorage, AK – An Alaska Native woman from Glenallen and two co-conspirators have pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally trading cash, firearms, and snowmachines for marine mammal parts. A record number of sockeye salmon have returned to spawn in the Kenai River. BP Exploration Alaska plans to clean up its latest oil spill before the ground freezes. Union Oil is selling Cook Inlet assets -- including offshore platforms, onshore gas fields, pipelines, and gas storage facilities -- to Hilcorp Alaska, of Houston, Texas. Congress is moving forward on debt ceiling negotiations after weeks of gridlock, but Alaska's lone Congressman is not part of the talks. Congress was scheduled for a recess. He committed to attend a charity fundraiser a spokesperson says was a year in the works and couldn't be rescheduled.
