November is Alaska Native/American Indian Heritage Month! KNBA sponsors many activities and will feature several special programs throughout November 2015.
Our programming will include:
- Alaska Native Languages used for our regular announcements Monday - Friday between 11am and 3pm.
- "Not in Our Smokehouse"; This series is heard in November M-W-F at 8:50am and Tu-Th at 4:58pm, and shares short interviews conducted by young Alaskans at the 2015 First Alaskans Institute Elders and Youth conference about culture, language, subsistence and leadership/identity .
- AFN Re-Cap; Airing Saturdays at 10:00am you can hear again the important and emotional speeches given during the 2015 Alaska Federation of Natives convention.
- Listen throughout the day for mentions of feature events from the Alaska Native Heritage Month Committee's calendar of activity. A specific listing of weekly events will be Live WEDNESDAYS at 10:30am through November.
KNBA is a sponsor of the Alaska Native Visionary Awards and Village Vogue Fashion Show! The event takes place Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. The Alaska Native Heritage Month, Inc is supported, in part by the CIRI Foundation, 90.3 KNBA, Alyeska Pipeline and Wells Fargo.
