Our guest this morning on Our Community is Executive Director Beth Nordlund of the Anchorage Park Foundation.  Nordlund had a lot to share, with four events coming up as the fall comes on -

The Fish Creek Festival is a grassroots gathering in Spenard featuring Live Music, Food Trucks, art and artists as well as a duct tape and tarp parade, with a preliminary to the festival - the Fish Creek Cleanup.  The cleanup starts at 10am Saturday the 9th, and the Festival starts at 3pm.

Additionally, Tonight, the Valley of the Moon Park Fix-It session is a volunteer opportunity for community members to help put the finishing touches on some improvements in that area.

One issue being addressed is drainage - and an innovative approach called a "rain garden"  - planting of indigenous shrubbery that help water be absorbed into the ground, will be a part of the Fix-It event, Tonight at 7:30pm at the Valley of the Moon Park, located at 610 West 17th Avenue.

The same technique will be applied to the Jewel Lake Park Fix-It, September 9th at 10:30.
