Danny Preston speaks with Don Rearden, a professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. He is also known as the author of The Ravens Gift. Shifting from contemporary Yupik Eskimo village life to a gripping post-apocalyptic Alaskan nightmare, The Raven's Gift reveals a heartbreaking truth -- many remote communities in rural Alaska currently teeter on the brink of total collapse. Don Rearden's debut novel dares to confront the frightening possibility of an impending catastrophic loss of human life, love, and indigenous culture. Next Tuesday at the UAA Bookstore from 5  & 7 PM there will be a discussion on "Explaining the World: What if",  including Don Rearden.
