Indigenous Music Matters

Are you looking for radio that is authentic and hip, informed and indigenous? Then tune into Earthsongs.

Each week, Earthsongs gives public radio listeners the chance to explore Native influences that help shape and define contemporary American music.

Earthsongs is distributed by Native Voice One and can be heard on radio stations across Alaska and the country. The program is produced by Koahnic Broadcast Corporation (KBC), a nonprofit, Alaska Native governed and operated media center located in Anchorage, Alaska.  Earthsongs is hosted and produced by Alexis Sallee.

Earthsongs airs Thursdays at 10:00am and repeats Saturdays at 11:00am. This week features Turtle Clan Mohawk Jimmy Wolf, a blues/rock singer and guitarist with an edge. His songs blend distorted effects with soul, R&B, 50's rock, and Delta-Chicago blues. His latest album, A Tribute to Little Johnny Taylor, is a collection of songs that honors the blues and soul singer who died in 2002. It was nominated for "Best Blues Recording" at the 2014 Native American Music Awards where Wolf also won "Best Male Artist of the Year". Jimmy Wolf joins us on the line this week from Rome, New York.
