Our guest this morning on Our Community, Shirley Mae Springer Staten, is the Executive Director of Keys to Life Alaska, an organization founded with the goal of, as the website says, "Empowering, Creating and Strengthening an Inclusive Community Through Rich Arts & Cross-Cultural Experiences."
This February 3rd, Keys to Life is hosting a Cultural Storytelling festival.
Staten says the festival includes a wide variety of storytellers sharing not only traditional storytelling, but also providing context and insight into their culture and experiences.
The event is free, thanks to support from the Alaska Humanities forum. However, registration is requested - as there is a lunch provided and registering helps organizers know how many to plan for.
