Todays guests on Morning Line featured Cathy Steen from the Alaska Scottish Club and the Fire, a Scottish music band. They spoke with Morning Line Host Danny Preston about an upcoming event taking place this weekend in Anchorage.
The Alaska Scottish Club presents the 37th Annual Alaska Scottish Highland Games at the Alaska State fairgrounds. With the gates opening at 8 a.m., the games will feature 6 of the top female athletes in the world competing in the games. “Some world record holders will be there,” said Steen. From keltic dancing, baking, piping and drumming, children versions of the games to live-entertainment from the Fire, there will be activities for everyone!

Joining Cathy in studio was The Fire, a high-energy Scottish music band. Their musical style is a combination of bagpipes, guitar, bodhran, whistle, and bouzouki. The group includes, International Scottish Fiddle Champion Rebecca Lomnicky, multi-instrumentalist David Brewer of the popular Celtic band Molly’s Revenge, and Adam Hendey on guitar and bouzouki.
