Operations & Production Coordinator - KNBA

Frank Chythlook hosts KNBA's mid-day Native Music programming from 10am to 11am. He's also the Operations and Production Coordinator for the station.  Frank has been involved in broadcasting for years, and was first involved with KNBA as an Alaska Native Youth Media Institute participant in 1994.  Frank returned to KNBA a second time in 2001 after snagging a Broadcast degree from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, where Frank worked for a commercial TV new station and volunteer-hosted at KSUA 91.5 FM - College and volunteered at the KUAC 89.9FM membership drives.   Frank has since served as an instructor in media production at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, worked as an academic advisor at UAF, and as an FM announcer at KUAC.

Frank hails from the Bristol Bay community of Aleknagik and boasts that he once caught a 28lb king salmon on a rod and reel back when those fish were plentiful.

The Kuspuk Classic!

What does basketball have to do with archeology? Well, Frank Chythlook finds out by speaking with NBA legend Kenny Anderson! The NBA star will be at the upcoming Kuspuk Classic event on Saturday, June 13th, 7:00 Pm at the AT&T Sport Pavillion center. Tickets are $7 for students, $10 for adults, and VIP tickets are $15 which includes special seating along with an autographed meet and great with the players! For more information, click here.

Three time NAMMY (Native GRAMMY) winning Artist Cody Blackbird and The Cody Blackbird Band (Alternative blues/rock fusion) will join actor, comedian and musician Jonathan Joss at Anchorage’s Taproot for an amazing evening of great music and good laughs on Thursday March 12​th at 8pm.

Blackbird, who was raised in Anchorage, now resides in Arizona and tours internationally, both as a solo artist and with his band. This will be the third show of what is set to be an international tour consisting of over 100 shows here in the US, Australia and Europe.
