4/30 12 News - The Municipal Assembly asks advice on certifying flawed election results; Alaska Natives discuss human rights with a United Nations official

By Joaqlin Estus

Anchorage, AK – The Assembly chair, Ernie Hall, has hired a law firm to review an election commission's report, and municipal attorney opinion, and advise the Assembly on its role in certifying results of an election marred by a shortage of ballots, and confusion and delays at polling places. Alaska Natives describe a range of issues to a U.N. official investigating human rights. Concerns include climate change, the Pebble mine, trespassing, overfishing, and the justice system's treatment of Alaska Natives.
